He begins slowly tells her, trepidation in his voice, "Including you, there have been, ... three ... thousand one hundred and six." Inside his mind he thinks, "This would have been an excellent time to lie." Lying isn't such a bad thing. Tell her you're gay. Have erectile dysfunction. Whatever. There's an art to it no doubt, but you gotta try. Furthermore, I just want to point out that no good deed goes unpunished. Instead of doing the right thing, he could have hopped on the bad foot and did the wrong thing, and get right on with his life. And he'd would have a great opportunity to lie later. "Wha wwhat? Sleep with ...!? Of course not! Let's not be making stuff up here..." But jokes aside, intense chapter. I, Like Knyt, can relate. When it rains, it pours. Corbin's tale is sucking me in!
