First off, let me just say thank you to everybody for reading Oasis. And of course for your astute typo catching.
I knew the ending would not be everyone’s cup of tea, but hey, what book ending is? For me, it kept in with the pulpy flavor that I’ve wanted Oasis to have. After all, Oasis was inspired by my favorite pulp authors: Edgar Rice Burroughs (Tarzan/John Cater Of Mars), Robert E. Howard (Conan) and Kenneth Robinson (Doc Savage)
I’ll be sending emails to a few of you to see if you’ll let me use your comment on the Oasis web site.
So what’s next for Oasis?
It’s pretty simple. I’m going to go through and clean up some of those pesky typos. I’m going to make some minor edits to the story, nothing major, I just want some parts to flow a little easier. There’s a chapter I think I’d like in the first third of the book. After that - I’m seeking publication. If I can’t get a publisher fairly quickly, I’ll be self-publishing via CreateSpace.com. In any case, my goal is to make sure by the end of the year you can all hold a beautifully printed copy in your hands.
By the way, If I end up self publishing, here’s what the cover will probably look like.
So what’s next for StoryHack?
In the meantime, the fiction here will not stop. First up, you’ll see a piece of the first novel I attempted to write. After that, I’ve got a couple of short stories that I need to get out of my system. Then who knows? Perhaps more serial novel goodness.

I can’t wait for more of your work. Is the pulpy style your M.O., or are you going to branch out to other styles and methods?
While I’m bummed Oasis is over, I can’t wait to see what else you’ve got up your sleeve, and if more serial online-ish goodness is around the corner, so much the better for we your readers.

Do you know much about CreateSpace.com? I’ve been looking into self-publishing if and when I finish my online novel, and it’s not really something I know much about. From what I’ve heard, Lulu is supposed to be pretty good. I’m just somewhat leery about making any sort of commitment without a lot of research.

Tahjir - Createspace requires a little bit more technical knowledge. Specifically, you have to produce a pdf of the cover according to their specs. It’s not terribly difficult to do once you know how. Lulu has a really slick cover wizard, so you don’t have to mess with any graphics editing yourself.
However, With Createspace, you automatically get listed on Amazon. With Lulu, you have to pay extra and then you may get listed on amazon.
In either case, you need to know how to produce a pdf to their specs of the text. Once again, it’s not terribly difficult once you learn how.
I’ve actually been planning to do a video contrasting the two. I just need to find time to put it together.
Oh, and Tahjir, what are you doing up at 2:50am? There should only be one 2:50 per day, and it should be while the sun is shining…
Yeah, I noticed that Lulu looked more user friendly, just based on their site alone. Being Canadian, it’s a bit more complex when you factor in the international stuff, and Lulu seems to lean more towards international sales.
And 2:50 is nothing. I get started on revisions and drafting, and when I look at the clock it’s usually 7am. But, being a student, I can get away with it.
