What’s happening?

Here’s what’s going on in my world recently. I may not have been posting here, but I’ve been staying busy.

  • I’m on Chapter 52 of my “Journey…” edits. The end is in sight!
  • I’m about 3/4 done writing the kid’s book. I think. My daughters ask me every night if I’m ever going to finish it, so I have to keep working.
  • I just wrote a poem explaining my new purpose in life.
  • I’m rewriting SPAB! (Anybody remember that?) in python. Rather than drive other programs to do the file preparation, SPAB will be doing it all.
  • I’m re-writing my how to self-publish a book site. I wanted to focus and streamline the process (hint – it’s going to use the new SPAB)
  • Oh, and in the next week or so, I’ll be releasing the next version of my WordPress theme Book WP. You can already see it in action over at HowToSelfPublishABook.org. It’s been simplified and betterified.

  1. Theme looks GREAT, B. Ever considered publishing a how-to on setting WP up on a hosted site? I might be interested in seeing it. I want to use WP on my site, should ever I get one, but I’d need help doing it.

    Just sayin’.

Looking forward to SPAB! (I only use Scrivener now, but still…)

  2. Pretty much every host out there has an automatic installer in their back end. It’s super easy.

If you do use hostmonster, the process is like

    1. Log into your host backend.
    2. On the main menu, look for WordPress or “Simple scripts” under the “site builders” header. If “Simple scripts”, then select wordpress from the menu that appears.
    3. Follow the wizard to set your admin account name & password, site name, and install directory (the main directory) and such.

    That’s really it.

As to SPAB – it’s churning out epubs now. Next up is smashwords-compatible epubs. Then it’s amazon kdp files, then it’s pdfs for paperbacks & regular printing. Then it’s done… But I have a good plan to generate all of those.
