Ick.

Well, it looks like the motherboard to my computer is fried. That makes me unhappy. At least I’ve been good about backups.

You know what else makes me unhappy? The government.

Seriously.

Recently, President Obama (or at least whatever staff member has keys to the account) tweeted the following:

A vote against the DISCLOSE Act is a vote to allow corporate and special-interest takeovers of our elections.

If you ask me, a vote for DISCLOSE is a vote to allow politician takeovers of our corporations. Why might that be bad? Well, if the politicians really knew anything about business, they’d be able to run the government so that it showed a profit, not exponential debt.

Yes, I know I never got to posting last week’s chapter.

Here’s the problem(s)

Well, she’s not a problem per se. But her lack of consecutive hours of sleep can be. For the last week-10 days until two nights ago, my six month old decided to sleep for no longer than an hour and a half at a stretch. And if she ever awoke and saw that it was dark outside, she’d become very sad. (I guess that’s why she was screaming.)

But dang it if she isn’t the cutest thing in diapers.

I would have finished last night, but we were watching three of my sister-in-law’s girls last night so she and her husband could attend the Michael Buble concert in Salt Lake. Of course, if there was any fairness at all in the world, I still wouldn’t have finished the chapter – because I’d be at the concert. I was a Buble fan since, like, forever ago, and they just barely discovered him.

I’ve been reading “Techniques of the Selling Writer” again, and I’m liking it even more this time. (plus, it was already my favorite book on writing.) The problem with that is I’ve remembered all manner of things I should be doing. Just bear with me here, though. Long term, it’s going to make my fiction way more awesomer than before.

That being said, I can almost guarantee a chapter this week. It’s already 1300 words long and it’s shaping up nicely.

Oh,and happy April Fools Day. I wish I could have come up with an amusing trick to play on you all. Maybe next year.

Hopefully the Journey of St. Laurent Chapter 32 will be posted by the end of the weekend. I just had to crash last night before I could finish it. It’s been kind of a sleep-deprivation-alicious week.

Although, I must say, I’m finally getting close to the part I’m most excited to write. After all, what could be more awesome than alien zombies?

Maybe alien zombies with mystical demon-summoning powers. *Makes note for next book…*

And don’t forget to pimp Micro Flash Fiction to all your friends. And your dentists and car mechanics. It would be way better to have Micro Flash Fiction than the four year old issue of Time or the torn up “Fashion at the Oscars” issue of Us magazine in the waiting room.

OK, I’m using this open source package (Scribus) to lay out Micro Flash Fiction, and I’ve given up on it, recommitted to using it, given up, rededicated to it, and so on and so forth. I have a love/hate relationship with learning new software. I suppose Scribus might be intuitive if you’ve done lots of real publishing before, but I’ve only used OpenOffice (yay!) and Word (ick), so there you go.

Anyway, I became distracted last week by some ideas for a couple of stories that have been bouncing around in my head. I had to write them down rather than work on Journey, so sorry about the lack of chapter. I should be good to go for Friday, though.
